Tigers Get Their Biggest Test

Mizzou came into Saturday with five wins and zero losses. They’ve been playing great football. But Alabama? That’s a whole different level. The Crimson Tide have beaten Missouri six straight times since 1975.
This game was huge for Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz and his team. They’ve won at least 10 games the past two seasons, but still don’t get the respect they deserve. A win over Alabama would change that.
Ahmad Hardy has been unstoppable for the Tigers. He’s rushed for 730 yards and nine touchdowns this season—best in the nation.
“It’s a really good football team. Very physical, great size. You just have to play a good game and stay true to ourselves,” Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula said.

Alabama Brings Big Momentum

Alabama came to Columbia riding high. They beat Georgia at their place and handled Vanderbilt 30-14 last week. That’s three straight games against ranked teams for the Tide.
Quarterback Ty Simpson has been lights out. He’s thrown for 1,478 yards, 13 touchdowns, and just one interception. Those are the best numbers in the SEC.
But Missouri had home field on their side. The Tigers haven’t lost at Faurot Field in 15 straight games. That’s the second-longest home winning streak in college football.
How the First Half Went
Missouri struck first. Quarterback Beau Pribula threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brett Norfleet. The Tigers went 78 yards in just six plays to take a 7-0 lead.
Alabama didn’t wait long to answer. Ty Simpson found running back Jam Miller in the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown pass to tie things up 7-7.
Simpson looked sharp on that drive, going 5-for-6 for 42 yards. The announcers on ABC talked about how good Alabama has been in the red zone—they’ve scored touchdowns on 18 of their 25 trips inside the 20-yard line this season.
What the Experts Said

FOX analyst Joel Klatt picked Missouri to win. He thinks the Tigers’ home crowd and running game give them the edge.
Other experts favored Alabama. Coach Kalen DeBoer has won 13 of 15 games when both teams are ranked. That’s the best record in history for those situations.
The Coaches
DeBoer has proven he can win big games. He’s 17-3 against top 25 teams since 2021.
Drinkwitz wants that signature win to show Mizzou belongs with the best. The Tigers haven’t beaten Alabama since 1975—that’s 50 years ago. Last year, Alabama shut them out 34-0.
Where to Watch
The game aired on ABC at noon Eastern time. You could also stream it on Fubo (they offer a free trial), ESPN+, or Sling TV.
The weather was nice in Columbia—around 66 degrees with clouds.
What Comes Next
The winner gets a big boost for the playoff picture. Alabama faces six ranked teams between late September and mid-November.
Missouri wraps up a six-game home stretch before traveling to Auburn next week. If they can beat Alabama, they’ll be taken seriously as playoff contenders.
Both teams have star receivers too. Alabama’s Germie Bernard averages 15.7 yards per catch with five touchdowns. Missouri’s Kevin Coleman leads the SEC with 39 catches.
