SNL’s Rising Star

Marcello Hernandez has become one of Saturday Night Live’s most exciting talents since joining the show in 2022. Born on August 19, 1997, in Miami, Florida, the comedian brings fresh energy to America’s longest-running sketch show. He graduated from John Carroll University in 2019 with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Communication before moving to New York City to chase his comedy dreams.
His big break came when he was named SNL’s first Gen Z cast member, making history at just 25 years old. Hernandez quickly proved he belonged, creating instant fan-favorite characters that spread like wildfire across social media.
Fans and Stars React

“This hour is my whole life, you know?” Hernandez shared about his upcoming Netflix stand-up special. Fellow SNL veteran Kenan Thompson praised the young comedian when presenting him the Webby Award, calling him his “little brother” and celebrating his ability to create “instantly iconic characters”.
Don Francisco, host of the legendary Spanish show Sábado Gigante, thanked Hernandez personally on Instagram after the comedian brilliantly recreated the variety show in an October 2024 sketch. “It was not just a fantastic television program; it was a gathering place for families,” Francisco wrote.
Changing Comedy Forever
Marcello Hernandez is reshaping how comedy connects with audiences. His character Domingo—a smooth-talking Miami heartbreaker—became the most-viewed video on SNL’s TikTok with over 100 million views. The character first appeared in October 2024’s “Bridesmaid Speech” sketch and has since appeared in multiple episodes.
Beyond Domingo, Hernandez created “The Couple You Can’t Believe Are Together” for Weekend Update alongside Jane Wickline. He also starred in the Sábado Gigante parody that touched millions of Hispanic viewers who grew up watching the show. With 2 million Instagram followers and 2.4 million on TikTok, his reach extends far beyond television.
What Makes Him Special
Hernandez brings authentic Latino representation to mainstream comedy. “That’s where a lot of my comedy comes from, is that my parents went through a lot to give me a good life,” he explained. His Cuban-Dominican heritage shines through characters that feel real and relatable.
The New York Times named him one of the most stylish people of 2024, while Variety honored him as one of their Power of Young Hollywood honorees. In June 2025, he received the Webby Outstanding Comedic Performance Award, cementing his status as digital comedy’s new leader.
Next Chapter Begins

This weekend, Marcello Hernandez appears in SNL promos alongside Sabrina Carpenter, who hosts and performs on October 18, 2025. The duo shares hilarious moments, including revealing their shared “greatest fear” about dentists with long beards. Carpenter previously “arrested” Hernandez’s Domingo character at her Los Angeles concert in November 2024 for being “too hot”.
Hernandez is currently touring his stand-up routine nationwide, preparing to film a Netflix special this fall. He also appeared in the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2 sequel released in July 2025.
